Frequently Asked Questions

Anthony’s Scrivener Group Inc. is a corporation registered with the California Secretary of State. Our founder’s first name is Anthony. “Scrivener” reflects what we specialize in—taking a defendant’s words and turning them into clear, written communications for their attorney. And “Group” represents the many minds and efforts that make our communication platform effective for defendants and their families.

No. Anthony’s Scrivener Group does not provide legal advice, legal representation, or legal document preparation, and no one here is licensed to practice law in any jurisdiction. What we do provide is something most attorneys cannot: dedicated communication expertise rooted in real experience. Our team includes former legal practitioners, people who have been incarcerated and successfully assisted others with their legal matters, and specialists who understand the barriers defendants face. This combination makes us uniquely effective at helping defendants clearly express their priorities and ensure their attorneys hear them.

Because the work we do is deeply personal and tied to ongoing criminal cases, most of our clients value confidentiality above all else. Many defendants and their families simply don’t want their private struggles on display. To protect that trust, we use non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) so that sensitive case details are never exposed. That said, clients who wish to share their experiences may do so voluntarily, and you’ll find selected reviews featured on our website—carefully chosen to respect both confidentiality and transparency. For us, privacy isn’t a limitation—it’s part of the protection we provide to every family we serve.

No. Our service is designed to work only when a licensed attorney is representing the defendant. The strength of what we do is ensuring the defendant’s voice is organized, documented, and delivered to their attorney—who then decides what actions to take in the case. Without an attorney in place, our service would not be effective.

One of the most common requests defendants make through our communication platform is simple: “Come and talk with me about it.” This opens the door for the attorney to explain why certain actions should—or should not—be taken. Instead of being ignored or left in the dark, defendants gain a way to participate meaningfully in their defense.

Every communication also creates a written record. This record can:

  1. Show whether the attorney is acting in the defendant’s best interest.

  2. Support a request to replace an attorney if reasonable concerns go unresolved.

  3. Be used in later proceedings, such as an appeal, to show potential ineffective assistance of counsel.

Most importantly, defendants see immediate improvement in communication with their attorney, which reduces the frustration and uncertainty they are experiencing now. Having a structured, documented record makes everyone more accountable—while giving defendants the clarity and involvement they need.

We use only publicly available information, such as court calendars, filings, and case records. Nothing we share in our letters or outreach comes from private or confidential sources.

Why do we do this? Because defendants across the country face the same problems: delayed discovery, rushed attorney conversations, and pressure to accept a plea deal without being heard. By reaching out, we connect families and defendants to a service designed to fix one critical gap—ensuring the defendant’s voice is communicated clearly to their attorney.

If your loved one received a letter from us, it’s because your loved one may be facing challenges we specialize in addressing.

Down payments vary by case, but typically range between $419 and $766, with the average being about $746.

We’ll review your situation personally and find a fair starting point that makes sense for your family.
